The Sweetness We Often Take Granted

7 July 2026 · 3 min read

A Special Blessing from Allah

Honey is one of the special blessings that Allah mentions in the Qur'an. Bees gather nectar from flowers, work together with amazing precision, and produce honey that has nourished people for thousands of years. It is sweet, nutritious, and Allah tells us that in it there is healing for people.

Order and Wisdom in Creation

When we look closely, honey is more than just food. It reminds us of the incredible order and wisdom found in creation. The tiny bee knows where to fly, how to build perfect honeycombs, and how to produce something so beneficial. These are not things the bee taught itself. Allah says that He inspired the bee, reminding us that every part of creation follows the guidance of its Creator.

Qur'an 16:69

"Then eat from all the fruits and follow the ways of your Lord laid down for you." There emerges from their bellies a drink of varying colours, in which there is healing for people. Surely in this is a sign for people who reflect. (Qur'an 16:69)

Honey Invites Reflection

Honey invites us to pause and think. We often enjoy its sweetness without considering the countless blessings behind it—the flowers, the rain, the sunlight, the bees, and the delicate balance that makes it all possible. Each spoonful is connected to an entire world that has been carefully created and sustained.

Signs in Ordinary Things

Perhaps that is one of the beautiful lessons of the Qur'an. The signs of Allah are not only found in extraordinary events, but also in ordinary things we use every day. A drop of honey can remind us that behind every blessing is the One who created it, provided it, and made it beneficial for us.

Gratitude in Everyday Gifts

The more we reflect on these simple gifts, the more gratitude grows in our hearts. And gratitude helps us see that the world around us is filled with reminders of Allah's mercy and generosity.
